Samsung 55 Inch LED UE55D8000 HD 3D TV Review

The Good: Excellent picture along with a beautiful chassis make this the best overall television sold on the market to date.

The Bad: The set remains somewhat pricy, although it is now being sold for almost £500 less than it was a few months ago.

Currently, this television is the best set that money can buy and an excellent choice for gamers.

Owners report that they are extremely happy with the Samsung TVs television. It can take some tweaking of the settings, but the picture blows them away. Both SD and HD look great and HD is described as stunning.

Out of the box, the set's picture is said to be amazing. The images pop of the screen. In the 3D mode, this set is describes as offering the best picture seen on television. This takes 3D TV from a gimmick to a real feature that can enhance television viewing. If available, try this set with the SKY 3D option. Many football games will be broadcast in 3D this year, making the feature even more useful.

While the picture certainly does pop when the set is turned on out of the box, some viewers find that it is somewhat unnatural. It has been compared to a Hi-Fi that has the sub-woofer turned too high. While it is impressive, it can be a little too much. However, the tweaks of the reference settings can give a more natural color and brightness level. The UE55D8000 offers a large number of settings allowing the user to adjust the pictures, many of them already setup in the advanced menu. Even these settings sometimes require a bit of adjustment to get everything to one's ideal picture.

The set's SMART features also prove to be useful, even if you do not have a HTPC setup. Samsung's built in features allow many things to be accessed through the press of a button. However, some of the features are gimmicky. Still, users will find lots of them and several that are fun to use. You will be surprised at how easily some work at jobs like picking up a Twonky server and integrating all the media. The consumer level items work well with the set out of the box.

As an all around TV, this set is the best available in either a 55 Inch LED TV or 55 Inch LCD TV. However, if you only want a set to watch HD movies and not one for console gaming, the new Panasonic plasma may top it for some consumers. If you are addicted to gaming, however, the Samsung TVs 55 Inch set is the one for you.
